Arty card techniques. Monoprints.

August 29th, 2008 by Maree

untitled-1-copyHere are some suggestions for Artry cards.  You could do monoprints and use as backgrounds, matting layers or even the image itself.

Drop 2 colours of inks or paints, onto acetate, or a smooth tile, swirl them around a bit, place paper on top, gently smooth over and lift up the paper and dry. Papers can be cut up as required.

Another, drop watercolors or inks on paper, place cling-film on top, leave to dry, or set, then remove film. See Pic on right.

Also, Instead of cling film, tear pieces of crumpled tissue paper, and pva glue them down on dry paint. If needed, brush more transparent washes over the surface. See Pic. on left.

A tag with a tape transfer

August 27th, 2008 by Maree

tag-file1This is a tag I swapped. Acrylic paints on canvas (from Lidl) and a tape transfer.  I used 2″ cellotape to pick up the image from a Sunday mag. Rubbed hard over the shiny surface and placed the tape  in water for 5 mins. The paper came off and voila!   the image was on the tape.  I sanded the shiny surface away, and stuck it down to the tag. Added some script stamp below the image..
