A tag with a tape transfer

August 27th, 2008 by Maree

tag-file1This is a tag I swapped. Acrylic paints on canvas (from Lidl) and a tape transfer.  I used 2″ cellotape to pick up the image from a Sunday mag. Rubbed hard over the shiny surface and placed the tape  in water for 5 mins. The paper came off and voila!   the image was on the tape.  I sanded the shiny surface away, and stuck it down to the tag. Added some script stamp below the image..

That’s beautiful, I love the soft focus look – not tried this tape transfer thing yet, MUST do it!

This is just the kind of article that would be ideal for the blog if it were adopted by forum members. It has given me renewed hope that it might work.

Thank you David, I agree, and also, I find posting and commenting on a blog, is more relaxing. I think it would be an advantage to the forum members who were interested in the nitty gritty details of ‘How To’s’ and can ask questions freely. I feel these details would take up too much space on the actual forum.
I love the new pic. facility on the Forum and it also will be a great advantage. Best to wait and see how the Blog works out for a while. It does need contributers!!

I love this tag! So great. Thanks for explaining the cellotape transfer method–I’ll definitely try this one!

This is perfect, David. I agree this is the type of entry that makes a blog worthwhile. Mine so far have been pretty limited, mostly because I was just testing out the idea. When I get home tonite, I’ll post a “real” entry so you’ll get a better feel for how mine would be done.

Lovely tag – great colours – still to try this technique.

Beautiful tag Maree. I have tried this technique once before using a small image and the narrow tape. Would love to use larger images but haven’t been able to find the wide tape. Where did you get yours from?

  10. Maree Says:

I get them usually in the euro (pound) shops, Christa. The hardware (tool)shop also have them sometimes.

Have tried this method of trasfer but had no idea about sanding off the glossy side; will have to give that a try.
